About the position

The Medical Biologist will be based in Gabon and will oversee and perform medical biology analyses in compliance with national regulations, ensuring accurate diagnostic testing, quality assurance, and regulatory adherence within the laboratory. The incumbent will provide scientific and medical oversight in line with Gabonese healthcare legislation.

Reports to: Laboratory Manager

Position Overview:

  1. Compliance & Processes
    • Comply with Cerba Lancet Africa’s Ethical conduct, policies and procedures.
    • Adhere to the Health, Safety and Environmental procedures.
    • Drive the Cerba Lancet Africa values.

SCOPE OF WORK

  • Validate medical biology analyses and laboratory results.
  • Ensure compliance with Gabonese health regulations and accreditation standards.
  • Provide clinical interpretation and technical oversight of laboratory findings.
  • Implement and monitor quality management systems.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within the laboratory.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

  • Doctorate Degree in Pharmacy (PharmD) or Medicine (MD).
  • Diploma attesting to Speciality in Medical Biology (mandatory).
  • Gabonese nationality (mandatory requirement in accordance with local regulations).
  • Valid registration with the relevant Gabonese professional regulatory body.
  • Minimum 3–5 years’ experience in a clinical or medical laboratory environment (preferred).
  • 2–5 years relevant laboratory or field experience (varies by level).
  • Experience with research methodologies and data analysis.
  • Familiarity with scientific equipment and laboratory protocols.
