Clinical Interest
Anti-HBs assay determines the concentration of antibody to Hepatitis B surface antigen (anti-HBs) present in human serum and plasma.
This assay is clinically significant for several reasons:
- Vaccination Response: It helps determine if an individual has developed immunity to HBV following vaccination. A positive anti-HBs result indicates that the person has protective immunity.
- Post-Infection Immunity: It also indicates immunity in individuals who have recovered from a past HBV infection.
- In conjunction with other tests like HBsAg (Hepatitis B surface antigen) and anti-HBc (Hepatitis B core antibody), it helps to provide a complete picture of an individual's Hepatitis B status.
