Clinical Interest

QUICKI (Quantitative Insulin Sensitivity Check Index) is a simple, reliable measure of insulin sensitivity.

It is calculated from fasting glucose and insulin levels, providing a quick, non-invasive way of assessing metabolic health.

This index is used to assess insulin sensitivity, particularly in patients with type 2 diabetes, obesity and metabolic syndrome.

It is capable of detecting insulin resistance at an early stage, even before the appearance of overt hyperglycaemia.

The QUICKI index is considered to perform better in certain populations than the HOMA index, particularly in people with extreme insulin resistance or sensitivity.
