About the position

Position Overview:

  1. Cash Management
  • Monitor day to day financial activities on banking platforms, reports, and budget to ensure the company’s long term and short-term objectives are met.
  • Monitor daily cash balances and ensure efficient cash flow management.
  • Forecast cash needs and coordinate with various departments to ensure sufficient liquidity.
  • Execute cash management strategies to optimize the use of surplus funds and minimize borrowing costs.
  • Make provision for supplier payments and invoices that have not been captured on the system.
  • Ensure payments of liabilities are timeous and correctly recorded.

 

  1. Risk Management
  • Identify, assess, and mitigate financial risks such as interest rate risk, foreign exchange risk, and credit risk.
  • Develop risk management policies and procedures to safeguard the organization's financial assets.
  • Monitor compliance with risk management policies and recommend adjustments as necessary.
  • Research and provide strategic input to the business’s objectives.
  • Keeping abreast of changes within the industry (trends, products on market, service providers, networks, research).

 

  1. Investment Management
  • Develop investment strategies to maximize returns on surplus cash while adhering to risk tolerance levels.
  • Evaluate investment opportunities such as money market instruments, bonds, equities, and other financial instruments.
  • Monitor investment performance and make adjustments to the investment portfolio as needed.

 

  1. Banking relationship
  • Maintain good relationships with vendors and banks, arrange for investments in align to legislative compliance and company policies.
  • Negotiate banking services agreements, including pricing and terms.
  • Stay informed about banking products and services to optimize banking relationships.

 

  1. Financial reporting
  • Work closely with the Chief Finance Officer Africa to collate data and documentation for cash forecasts, bank reconciliations, intercompany loans treasury agreements, CAPEX for projects, currency exchange and risk management.
  • Provide a full accounting service to the home country business and Holding Company including accounts payable, accounts receivable, reconciliations and general accounting administration in alignment with country specific legislation and company policies.
  • Prepare and submit timeous monthly, quarterly, annual and cost saving initiative reports at set deadlines targets.
  • Prepare regular reports on cash flow, liquidity, and investment performance.
  • Provide financial analysis and insights to senior management to support decision-making.
  • Ensure compliance with accounting standards and regulatory requirements related to treasury operations.
  • Accurate asset management and record keeping

 

  1. Treasury operations
  • Oversee treasury operations such as cash disbursements, wire transfers, and cash concentration.
  • Implement and maintain treasury management systems to automate processes and improve efficiency.
  • Develop and maintain internal controls to safeguard financial assets and prevent fraud.

Competencies Required to do the job

Technical Competencies

  • Sage knowledge or other ERP knowledge and expertise.
  • High level of numerical, analytical, conceptual skills and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong level of managerial and business proficiency.
  • The ability to work autonomously and hold themselves accountable.
  • Proficiency in financial modeling and treasury management software.
  • Knowledge of financial markets, banking products, and regulatory requirements.

Qualifications

  • A Bachelor’s degree in commerce/Accounting/Finance. Advance degree (honours, MBA, CFA) preferred
  • 3-5 years’ experience in similar role.
  • 2-5 years’ experience working with multiple entities/countries.
  • Expert Microsoft Office skills (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook) skills.
  • Fluent oral and written English. French will be advantageous.
  • Available to travel within Africa.
